5 Signs Your Relationship Is Going To Last

Worrying about the longevity of your relationship is quite natural amongst all couples. Relationships take a lot of effort; love and passion are not enough. Are you in a relationship and want it to turn into something more? Or, maybe, you are just an audience to a new relationship that is leading towards something long-term. Whatever the reason, these five signs will help you decide whether your relationship will last long or not.

1. You choose to be thankful, not resentful
All relationships have to stand the test of time, because as you spend more time with a person, you get to learn more about their flaws. However, instead of lamenting on the problems in your partner, try to remind yourself why you fell in love with your partner in the first place; remember the good times and how special the person can make you feel. Many-a-times, forgiving and forgetting is the way to go to prevent mental wounding and to sustain and heal a relationship.

2. You concentrate on being with your partner, not what you are doing together

Getting things done from a to-do list isn’t the way to go if you want your relationship to last and heal. It’s important to take time out to connect by just hanging out, laughing together, sharing thoughts about your day and people, entrusting secrets, making love and so on. Focus more on your partner and not where you are or what you are doing. It will be the moments with him that will last in the future, not how successfully or unsuccessfully you planned and got your work done.

3. You attempt to learn, not control
The destruction of almost all relationships results from the will to be controlling Instead, you must try to learn about your relationship and improve from the mistakes of the past. Additionally, try to learn about your partner and his wants. Most importantly, give yourself the chance to learn about your own wants comforts Remember, only through the conscious intention of learning, not controlling, can relationships go far.

4. You show understanding and caring, not judgment, towards your partner

Most of you try to be kind to almost everybody in your life, right? Moreover, you expect caring and compassion whenever you are in trouble or depressed, from closed ones. The same applies to your partner, understanding and trust comes only through years of kindness towards each other’s feeling, not judgment. Ask yourself this: do you have each other’s back in any situation, good or adverse? If yes, then you are in for the long haul. Be kind and less judgmental towards yourself and apply the same attitude towards your partner. This would be the best climate for your relationship to thrive and be successful

5. You understand that you are responsible for your own feelings, not your partner

This understanding is not only applicable for boyfriend-girlfriend relationships but all bonds between people. You can be as happy as you want to be, but the vice-versa is also true. You should not expect your partner to take the responsibility to make you feel worthy and secure; that is more your responsibility than theirs. Whenever a partner feels hurt they resort to actions like displaying anger or violence towards the other. Others try harder to please their partner causing more harm than good. A few even resort to cheating! But, before you go about taking negative steps, ask yourself this: what do these actions achieve in reality? I will tell you: it leads to breakups and heartaches. So,learn to love yourself and take care of your own emotions to keep them positive and joyful. Let your partner feel better about him through your actions too, the rest will fall into place of its own accord and you will be able to enjoy a healthy and long relationship for sure.

Remember these five signs and try and check if these exist in your or others’ relationships. If you they indeed show understanding towards yourself/themselves and your/their partners and attempt to heal relationships with responsibility, love, care, gratitude and thankfulness, a strong and long bond is inevitable.
